Kropp House Rooms

Welcome to the newly renovated Kropp House, a charming retreat just steps from the Amtrak station, local shops, and the Hermannhof Winery. Offering a mix of main-level and upstairs rooms, the Kropp House combines modern comforts like high-speed Wi-Fi and Smart TVs with convenient access to all that Hermann has to offer.

The Kropp House was the original residence of Hugo Kropp, his wife, and their children. Hugo Kropp, proprietor of the Hermann Brewery and Malt House, which is now the Hermannhof Winery, was born in Germany in 1842, where he spent his youth and early adulthood. In 1867, he immigrated to America, first settling in Louisville, Kentucky. A year later he moved to St. Louis, and in 1874 he came to Hermann, Missouri. By 1877, Kropp had taken charge of the local brewery, which at the time produced just 454 barrels annually. Through his determination and business skill, he expanded and modernized the operation, increasing its output to 4,000 barrels per year—a testament to his vision and success as a brewer and entrepreneur.

Please note that breakfast is not included but may be purchased separately at the Inn, and families with children are best accommodated in our Schroeder Hill cottages or our whole-house rentals.
